It happens when your inflatable product gets punctured. Say, a pool float hit a rock and created a ragged slice along the side. You thought that it could no longer be used, but it doesn’t have to be so. Get a PVC repair kit, and patch the seams by yourself. It can seal the rips and tears quick and easy.
A PVC repair kit contains liquid vinyl adhesive and vinyl patch. As we are gluing a vinyl patch to a vinyl inflatable, the adhesive works to fuse the vinyl together. Follow the simple instructions and you can get back out on the water again.
How to repair inflatable products:
- Deflate your inflatable and let out air in the float.
- Measure the leaking seam and decide the size of patch so that the patch covers the seam nicely. For example, twice the size of the damaged area or larger. Don’t forget to cut round corners on patch.
- Apply adhesive to the patch. Do not over apply. It will take longer for thick adhesive to fully set. One tip is to use a scraper or a toothpick to smooth out the adhesive.
- Stick the patch to the damaged area, fully covering the seam. Make sure the borders of the patch and the corners are solidly secured. Press the patch over the seam and squeeze out all bubbles.
- Leave the patch for at least 4 hours. It will get best result if allowed 2 days to fully cure.
PVC repair kit works on all kind of vinyl and plastic inflatable products, including waterbeds, air mattresses, pool noodles, pool liners, etc. A well mended inflatable will hold over a year and even longer with no problem. Why spend big bucks getting a new inflatable when you can save money by mending the pesky leaks in minutes?
