For anyone who accidentally gets a puncture or a small hole in a canvas awning or RV awnings, the first thing that comes to mind is probably “how do I mend a hole without having to replace the whole thing?”
Well, you don’t have to replace the whole thing as long as the hole is small. But you want to repair it as quickly as possible for the fabric will continue to tear especially in the outdoor environment. A repair patch made of nylon fabric is commonly used for repairing tents and awnings and very likely to meet your needs.
You need to find ripstop nylon repair patches that are pre-glued with pressure sensitive adhesive. The patches should be large enough to cover the damaged area. Contact the awning supplier first and ask for a spare repair patch. You can also purchase a pack of awning repair patch online. Choose a product in a similar color to your awning or get a transparent patch, preferably a highly elastic one, if you desire an invisible repair.
Apply the repair patch as regular adhesive tape to one or both sides of the awning. Iron it on a low iron setting to get better results. If ironing is just not possible, you can press firmly instead to have the patch adhere tightly to the awning fabric.
With a piece of self-stick awning repair patch, you can mend the hold and make it look good again!
