Most people have learned how to ride a bike and enjoy riding, but not many know how to fix a flat tire as puncture happens.
Patching a tire takes only a few minutes.
You will get a better result if following the five tips.
- Locate the puncture area carefully. There might be more than one hole causing the flat tire. Mark the hole with a ball pen so that it can be found easily. Inspect the tire thoroughly since the objects that cause puncture, such as glass and nails, might still be there.
- Make sure to roughen the puncture area before applying tire repair glue. You can use a tire rasp, a piece of sandpaper or a piece of Emory cloth to do the job. Or you can use a piece of stone if none of these tools are available. By roughening puncture area you make scratches in the inner tube so that glue will adhere well later on.
- Clean the puncture area and keep it dry before applying glue. The glue will not stick very well if there is dust, grease or moisture.
- After applying glue, wait a few seconds. Stick the tire patch to the puncture area as the glue gets thick, fully covering the hole. Press firmly for a few minutes. Make sure the patch adheres well to the inner tube, even around the edges.
- Wait 10 to 15 minutes for the glue to cure. Examine the tire patch and see if it has already adhered well. Then you can inflate the tube again. If it is holding air, put it back in the tire and pump it up. Now you are ready to go!
