As the summer is coming, it is time to take out your inflatable pool and set it up in the backyard. Before throwing a kids party, however, you might want to check out the condition of the pool liner and make sure it works as well as it did last year. What if there is leakage? If you still keep the self adhesive patch included in the product package, it would be of your instant help. Otherwise you can buy a vinyl adhesive patch kit at local pool shop.
A vinyl adhesive patch is pre-glued with pressure sensitive adhesive and can be used to patch the hole directly without having to apply any extra liquid glue. The main advantage of adhesive patch over a glue-and-patch kit is that the former provides a quick repair – Your pool liner can be re-used in less than one hour after repairs.
Below are the simple steps to patch a pool liner using vinyl adhesive patch.
- Measure the damaged area and cut the patch in size that is at least an inch wider on all sides to properly cover the hole. (Do not peel off the backing paper at this step.)
- Make the cut always round or oval and leave no jagged edges so that there are no sharp pointed edges to come off in the future.
- Clean the damaged area and keep it dry.
- Peel off the backing paper and place the adhesive patch on the hole, fully covering the damaged area. Press the patch down firmly from the center out, pushing out all bubbles.
- Wait at least 30 minutes before re-using the pool liner. It takes 4 hours for the adhesive to fully cure.
